I’ll never forget it. It was 2012, my senior year in high school and the natural hair movement had sparked. 18 year old me was so inspired by these beautiful black queens embracing and caring for the hair that God gave them, I just had to join! I attempted to transition for a week but I couldn’t wait! I cut ALL of my hair off (3 weeks before prom)! My natural hair journey had begun and it was liberating! I also learned so much! I watched COUNTLESS YouTube videos and began creating my own products! Over the years my hair grew like a weed and flourished. I started sharing my products with friends and family and they loved them too! In 2017, I met the now love of my life and at the time, I decided to make him a beard oil. He loved it, and noted that since using this oil, his beard had become fuller, shinier, and overall healthier! He then suggested we should turn this into a true business. Since then, he and I have become engaged and started building Crown2Roots into its own entity! So I’ve been asked, “What does Crown2Roots mean?” It actually has a dual meaning: 1) For our people to remember that our history (roots) come from a royal and rich heritage (crown). 2) We are spiritual co-heirs as long as we remain rooted in Christ (Romans 8:17)!
